PTA Hardfacing

There is a steadily growing demand from all branches of industry for longer service life for their machinery and for the adaptation of that machinery to meet the specific conditions of their production processes. Part of the response to this demand has been the development of some highly sophisticated surface coating techniques. The most advanced of these are the plasma processes, particularly suitable for very precise anti-wear protection of parts. It is in this context that A&A Company, Inc. has installed a sophisticated Plasma Transferred Arc System (PTA), a high energy, inert gas welding process that produces a very high quality deposit which offers optimal protection with minimal dilution or deformation of the base material.

PTA SOLVES INTENSE INDUSTRIAL WEAR PROBLEMS

PTA is a process that deposits very precise coatings of perfectly controlled alloys on mechanical parts that are subject to intense wear, significantly extending their service life.It is particularly effective in protection against corrosion, thermal shock and abrasion.

PTA DEPOSITS SHOW THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERISTICS

  • An attractive bead with no signs of oxidation, and with little or no ripple.
  • Very low dilution – in fact the lowest level of dilution obtainable by electric arc welding.
  • High, density, no porosity & no inclusions.
  • Microphotos or x-rays show the deposits to be of high density & metallurgically bonded to the Substrate.

A&A Company, Inc. will evaluate your part to determine which process and which coating is best for your application.
